Windows or Snow Leopard?

After many years of being a dedicated Windows user and network administrator, database administrator, and sometimes programmer, I decided to purchase a fancy new iMac to learn more about them. At work it seems like more and more customers are calling in to have their Mac’s connected to the multifunction copiers my company sells. Seems like a great time to get a Mac and learn more about them.

Welcome, almost ready to go live!

After taking a break (aka. work at the day job) I have been testing various web site designs, web applications and my own designs and have come up with some interesting combinatons.

I will start posting articles soon about what I have found out. For example there are a lot of great applications that export their information to HTML so that you can add them to your web site. This is a great feature but that is a lot of private information and you may not want it on a web site without a little security. Maybe you only want family or those helping you do research seeing it.

Some of you may remember that I created an application called Family Access Web to help convert your family information from many genealogy applications to a web site. It was very limited in what it could do and since many genealogy programs today can export their information to HTML I have an been working on a very simple way of taking those HTML pages and converting them into ASP.Net applications that gives some security and other features.

More to come….
